Gregg Arnold Schultz, 73

| October 7, 2020 1:00 AM

Gregg Arnold Schultz, 73, passed away on Monday, September 28, 2020, in Sandpoint, Idaho.

A celebration of life and Gregg’s final meeting, will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, October 16, 2020, at the Lakeview Funeral Home in Sandpoint.

Gregg was born to the late Rex and Phyllis Schultz on January 4, 1947, in Long Beach, California. He lived and attended school in Long Beach until June 1967 when he was drafted into the Army. He served in the special forces in Panama until his discharge in June 1969, with the rank of sergeant.

Re-entering civilian life Gregg lived in Long Beach, Huntington Beach, and Surfside before moving to Sandpoint in 1992, where he worked as a commercial painter.

For 38 years, Gregg was a proud member and cornerstone of Alcohol Anonymous in Sandpoint, he helped an untold number of people. He may have been employed as a painter, but his passion was living and helping others live the AA way of life. He loved AA and his higher power, Jesus Christ. Gregg-isms, some borrowed, many original, will be used by Sandpoint AA community for many years to come, albeit missing Gregg’s unique story telling capability.

In retirement Gregg could be found living a quiet rural life, taking care of his dogs, gardening, harvesting firewood and spending time at the Baldy Mountain rifle range. The last few years brought challenging health issues, which Gregg handled with grace and humility.

He is survived by his daughter, Susan Ward; and four grandchildren, Jordan, Garret, Ashley, and Shelby Ward. He will be greatly missed by all his many friends, and those he chose as family.

Lakeview Funeral Home in Sandpoint is handling the arrangements. Please visit Gregg’s online memorial at www.lakeviewfuneral.com and sign his guest book.
