We have a chance for true change

| October 11, 2020 1:00 AM

We have a chance to drastically change the direction that our county is headed. Regarding the election of Bonner County sheriff. Sheriff Daryl Wheeler considers himself a constitutional sheriff. While I am not a constitutional expert, I am guessing, that the great minds that drafted both our U.S. and state constitution, put something in these constitutions that might allow for common sense to prevail for the common good. If they did not, maybe it's time for an amendment to address that.

I am specifically referring to Wheeler's challenging of Idaho Gov. Brad Little's actions for the pandemic. The governor's use of common sense and science, is a clear example of doing what is good for public safety. Another example of Sheriff Wheeler's lack of common sense happened several years ago when he, aided by Heather Scott overruled a veterans official who had decided that a troubled veteran should not be in possession of guns. I don't recall all the details of this specific case, but I put my faith in the ability of the professionals at the VA to make decisions based on medicine/science and not politics. When we have local officials (Wheeler and Scott) making decisions based on politics rather than science, I call that a total lack of common sense.

I am urging voters to vote for a change in county law enforcement. Cindy Marx will be a big improvement.  Vote common sense. Vote Cindy Marx for sheriff.
