Area firefighters owed huge debt of gratitude

| October 15, 2020 1:00 AM

On behalf of our members who are all long-time summer residents on Lake Pend Oreille, I am writing to express our gratitude and admiration for the prompt and comprehensive response to put out the forest fire which recently threatened our property.

We are particularly indebted to the leadership and members of the Sandpoint office of the Idaho Lands Department, Selkirk Fire Department, Bonner County Sheriff and Sam Owen First Station 1. Your efforts certainly justify the continuing support of all of us, temporary and permanent, residents of this area.

As one of our members said, “the Bonner County efforts were as good as, or even a little better than, I have seen in my home county.”  All of the members of our family association certainly agree with that expression and so appreciate all the effort and work during this potentially destructive situation.

With many thanks,
