Girls soccer held scoreless by Tigers

PRIEST RIVER — The Spartans were unable to get a shot on goal in Tuesday night's 6-0 defeat to Timberlake.

"We played a lot of defense," girls soccer head coach Rob Lawler said. "Didn't get many looks on the offensive side and that's something we're going to be working on the rest of the week is figuring out how can we make some opportunities happen."

The Tigers tallied two goals in the first half and four in the final 40 minutes to silence the Spartans.

"Speed is an issue for us, so we're going to have to play smarter," Lawler said.

In their first game of the season, Priest River only had 11 players. Tuesday, the Spartans had 14 players which allowed Lawler to make subs.

"Tonight we were definitely able to utilize those subs," he said. "That is something I am going to have to figure out a little bit is how to best utilize those subs."

Timberlake had 25 shots on goal and senior goalkeeper Makia Fitzmorris made 18 saves.

The Spartans (0-2) travel to Bonners Ferry next Tuesday.
