A Washington man who police say allegedly struck several people with his car after being involved in a fight in downtown Coeur d’Alene last Monday will receive his preliminary hearing Friday afternoon.

If he’s found guilty of aggravated battery, possession of a controlled substance, and a second driving under the influence offense, Jacob Endicott, 26, could face up to five years in prison, a fine of $5,000, and have his driving privileges revoked for two years.

Police said Endicott was involved in a hit-and-run outside the Moose Lounge, 401 E. Sherman Ave., after he was trespassed around 1:30 a.m.

Witnesses told police Endicott fought with a group of people before he was asked to leave the bar. Two witnesses told officers the group involved in the altercation followed him outside.

Witnesses said Endicott made a U-turn in a Chevrolet Malibu on Sherman Avenue and drove at a high speed toward the group on the corner, according to the police report. After running a stoplight, Endicott hit at least three pedestrians before continuing up to Fourth Street, witnesses said.

Police say two of the pedestrians involved in the accident were unwilling to comment and left the scene shortly after the incident. One woman told police she had been struck on her right side but declined medical treatment.

Police said Endicott’s blood alcohol level was above the legal limit, and that officers found methamphetamine in his wallet.

Endicott’s history includes a prior driving under the influence conviction in February 2019.

Judge Anna Eckhart set bond at $50,000, demanding Endicott be prohibited from operating a motor vehicle and that he comply with drug and alcohol testing.

Endicott posted bail and is scheduled to have his preliminary hearing in front of Judge James Stow on Friday.
