COEUR d’ALENE — Sandpoint boys soccer was silenced at Coeur d'Alene, falling 7-0 to the Vikings in an Inland Empire League match Thursday.

The loss drops the Bulldogs to 1-3 on the season.

"We didn't play," head coach Tanner French said. "It's obviously not ideal to play at a 5A school with three starters out, losing a fourth starter after 20 minutes and then just ultimately not having the depth on the squad right now."

French thought the week off between games would benefit the Bulldogs, but it looked the extra rest hurt them.

"Honestly I don't know what our issue is right now other than playing with a little more heart and a little bit more grit," he said. "Sandpoint soccer is always brutally possessed, so its really frustrating."

Despite surrendering seven goals, French said sophomore goalkeeper Roman Jiles played one of the best games of his career. Jiles made 11 saves.

"He had a couple great saves and he kept us in it for the beginning portion of it," he said. "I'm happy for him."

French said freshman Jett Longanecker and juniors Nolan Angell and Canyon Nash stood out as leaders during Thursday's defeat.

Chris Swider had four goals for the Vikings.
