Spartan soccer falls to CDA Charter 6-0, volleyball opens season

PRIEST RIVER — Coeur d'Alene Charter took down Priest River girls soccer 6-0 last Thursday at PRLHS.
The loss dropped the Spartans to 0-4 on the season and in Intermountain League play.
"The team showed well and was diligent to play a strong defense," head coach Rob Lawler wrote in an email. "With only one sub, we were forced to play multiple players the full 80 minutes. Progress was evident from [last] Tuesday night when we played Bonners Ferry."
CDA Charter outshot Priest River 26-0. Senior Makia Fitzmorris made 18 saves in net for the Spartans.
The Priest River boys soccer team (0-4) also lost to CDA Charter 6-0 last Thursday at home. No other stats were available from the game.
Both teams will head to Grangeville this Saturday. The girls play at noon and the boys kickoff at 2 p.m.
Volleyball opens season
The Priest River volleyball team opened its season Tuesday night with a three set loss against Coeur d'Alene Charter.
The Spartans play at Post Falls 7 p.m. tonight. The match kicks off a tough five-day stretch for the Spartans. The teams hosts Genesis Prep 5:30 p.m. Thursday, travels to Clark Fork 6 p.m. Saturday and welcomes Timberlake 7 p.m. Monday.
