County gains 5 COVID cases

SANDPOINT — Bonner County added five COVID-19 cases Thursday, bringing the county's total to 284. Panhandle Health District officials said 36 of those cases are considered active.

In all, PHD reports the five northern counties added 33 cases, with a total of 3,085 cases with 55 deaths since the start of the pandemic.

Boundary County added a new novel coronavirus case Thursday, with 55 cases reported in the county since the start of the pandemic with one death. Eleven of the county’s cases are considered active.

Kootenai County added 25 new cases on Thursday, with a total of 2,405 cases since the start of the pandemic. PHD officials said 173 of the county's cases are considered active.

Shoshone County added no new cases Thursday, keeping its total at 209 COVID-19 cases. The district said eight of those cases remain active. Benewah County had two new cases Thursday, with 132 cases since the start of the pandemic, 20 of which are active, PHD said.

The Idaho Department of Health & Welfare reported 396 new confirmed or probable infections, elevating the statewide total to 36,489 cases resulting in 434 deaths.
