OILS FIELDS IN CLARKSFORK VALLEY?

For weeks, men representing Spokane parties have been taking leases in the Clarksfork valley with the purpose of making an effort to find if oil can be found in commercial quantities. For some years it has been known that a gas product escapes from the fissures at the mouth of the Clarksfork river and there are other indications of the presence of oil or gas in the valley.Leases are being signed extensively. Under the lease provisions, a five-year option is given to the company to bore for oil. In case oil is located, the property holder upon whose land the “gusher” is found will earn 10 per cent royalties on the output.
