COEUR d'ALENE — The Vikings scored in the 55th minute Tuesday to hand Sandpoint girls soccer a 1-0 defeat.

This is the Bulldogs second straight loss and fourth this season.

Sandpoint also lost to Coeur d'Alene 2-1 on Sept. 3 at War Memorial Field.

"The team as a whole is not playing to my expectations," head coach Conor Baranski said. "We still have work to do ... in all phases of the game."

The sole goal in Tuesday's match came on a counterattack that Baranski said the Bulldogs didn't handle properly.

Baranski was proud of the fight his team showed.

"The team kept pushing until the final whistle," he said. "We went down 1-0, had 25 minutes to go and we didn't give up. We kept pushing, we had players getting forward and we created a couple more chances ... I think that's pretty big for us."

Baranski also felt his team outlasted Coeur d'Alene.

"We had them on their heels," he said. "Toward the end I think they ran out of gas and we didn't, so I'm going to build on that and press our advantage in that regard."

Coeur d'Alene (7-0-2) outshot the Bulldogs 14-4.

Sandpoint (4-4) will look to get back on track when they travel to Lakeland at 4 p.m. Thursday.
