Editor's note: This article has been updated with information on how to purchase the roses and Tami Feyen's title.

Bonner General Health Community Hospice will host its 23rd annual Rose Event Monday, Oct. 12. For $20, those who wish to can order a dozen roses with proceeds going toward client support for local families.

BGHCH is the area’s only nonprofit hospice, said Tami Feyen, Registered Nurse and hospice manager, and the event is the biggest fundraiser of the year.

This year’s fundraiser is especially important, she said, as the hospice has been able to bring in money elsewhere.

“Because of COVID, we have not had one single fundraiser,” Feyen said, “[and] our donations are significantly down.”

The money from the fundraiser goes directly to client care support, Feyen said, which includes buying supplies, medications and anything else a family may need.

The hospice meets people where they live, she said, and works to keep clients comfortable during their last few months.

Every year, BGHCH serves about 155 clients in their homes, Feyen said, and serves thousands of family members through their bereavement services.

“Our depth of support into the community is pretty strong,” Feyen said. “We rely on donations to help support client’s needs.”

Those who wish to purchase roses can do so by calling (208) 265 1185, or going to bonnergeneral.org/hospice-donation-form. A drive through pick-up will be available in Sandpoint from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Oct. 12 at North Summit Church.
