Class explores woods, waterfowl

“Woods, Wings, and Waterfowl,” a day of exploring, will be held Saturday, April 17.

Sponsored by Libby Hostel Base Camp, participants will explore and identify Rocky Mountain vegetation, local and migrating birds, and diversified species of waterfowl.

Participants will meet at the timber shelter in Riverfront Park, on the southwest side of the Kootenai River Bridge in Libby, Mont., at 9 a.m., MST. The group will go over a few birding tips before heading out.

Folks will take their own vehicles and keep safe space as the group visits roadside stops and viewpoints, short walks into private land sites, and river and lakeside views.

Participants are asked to come prepared for the day with full gas tanks, appropriate clothing for the weather (class will not be canceled due to weather), lunch, water, binoculars and spotting scopes.
