Grand jury called off

SANDPOINT — Grand jury proceedings in Bonner County have been called off.

A grand jury was scheduled to be impaneled on May 3, but the proceedings have been canceled, according to a notice posted at the Bonner County Courthouse.

The reason for the cancellation is not specified.

Grand juries, which convene behind closed doors, are impaneled to weigh criminal charges against a person or persons. Grand juries in Bonner County have been impaneled to consider charges in everything from theft cases to murder and sex-crime cases.
