Bulldog tennis tops Bears for second time

MOSCOW — Sandpoint tennis dismantled rival Moscow on Monday for the second time this season.

The Bulldogs won 7-5 and swept boys doubles.

Tyler Korn and Carter Johnson played at No. 1 boys doubles for the second straight match and continued overpowering their opponents, claiming a 6-3, 6-0 victory.

At No. 2 boys doubles, Christian Story teamed up with Tyler McNamee for the first time with Josh Embree out. The pair had no problem jelling, winning 6-0, 6-3.

“Tyler’s quickness and Christian’s net finesse was amazing,” head coach Kent Anderson said.

Freshman Neva Reseska rolled in her match at No. 1 singles, 6-0, 6-2.

“Neva found her mojo and played almost flawlessly,” Anderson said. “She was pounding her backhands and gliding effortlessly to her shots. It was great to see.”

Maise Brazill held true to her “Never Miss Maise” nickname at No. 2 singles, cruising to a victory in straight sets.

Aden Heitz and Patch Howard held off Moscow for a 6-1, 2-6, 6-2 win in mixed doubles.

“Aden moves so well and Patch’s strokes have become very disciplined,” Anderson said. “They are tough.”

The Bulldogs picked up a pair of victories in boys singles. Brahma Heitz won 6-1, 6-0 at No. 2 and Josh Jessen won 6-0, 6-2. Anderson said they both played their best match of the season.

SHS is now 7-1-3 in matches this spring.

Sandpoint hosts Lake City at 3 p.m. Thursday.
