Spartan golf battles some tough competition in Hayden Lake

| April 28, 2021 1:00 AM

HAYDEN LAKE — The Priest River boys golf team finished eighth in the Jim Kraus Memorial Invitational at Avondale Golf Club last Friday.

Seven of the nine teams that took part in the tournament were either a 4A or 5A school, so the Spartans faced some stiff competition.

Luke Butler and Bowen Fegert each carded a 96 to lead the Spartans. Kameron Salesky shot a 98, Brady O'Brien posted a 100 and Joey Hayes finished with a 121.

The girls still didn't have enough golfers to record a team score at the Susan Mitchell Memorial Invitational at Hayden Lake Country Club.

Olivia Hoepfer shot a 103, Brooklyn Best carded a 126 and Maria Hess tallied a 133 in her varsity debut.

The Spartans will compete in their fourth and final Intermountain League match of the season when they hit the course at the Links Golf Club at 9 a.m. Wednesday.
