Aug. 3, 1971 – AUGUST 7 WEDDINGS

The Aug. 7 marriage of Cheryl Puckett to Michael J. Seitz has been announced. Miss Puckett is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Brackebusch, Samuels. The groom-elect is the son of Mr. and Mrs. B.G. Seitz, Sandpoint. The couple plan to reside in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Mr. and Mrs. John Poelstra, Sandpoint, announce the engagement and August 7 marriage of their daughter, Julie, to Paul Vincent Seitz, son of Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Seitz. Miss Poelstra is employed in the U.S. Forest Service supervisor’s office and Seitz is with the engineering department of the forest service. Both are 1970 SHS graduates.

SCHWEITZER INN BUILDING APPROVED

Bonner County Planning & Zoning Commission granted a conditional use permit for construction of Schweitzer Inn at Schweitzer Basin. Plans for the four-floor structure, with a restaurant and 25 living units, were presented by Bud Ayers. The inn will be built adjacent to the Schweitzer Basin day lodge.

HORSES SHOULD GET INFLUENZA SHOTS

County Agent Raynold Davis stated there were several cases of equine influenza horse flu in the county again this year. Horses that will be brought to the fair show should be vaccinated. Giving one shot now and the second in three weeks should immunize the horses by the time of the horse show.

Aug. 3, 1921 – MOVE FOR A DORMITORY

A movement is afoot for a high school dormitory in this city. Who is at the head of the movement is not known but it is understood that many are in favor, including the civic club. If that club has undertaken this, and there is reason to believe they have, it goes without saying the dormitory will be built. The need of a dormitory for out-of-town pupils is an idea that should be looked after.

JOHN DELLINGER REMAINS LAID TO REST

Funeral services for John Dellinger, Sandpoint boy who made the supreme sacrifice in the recent war for the cause of world democracy, were largely attended, with many forced to stand outside. Catholic priest Fr. James Kelly gave a splendid address, paying fitting tribute to the dead hero and lauding the spirit of sacrifice. During a brief burial service at Lakeview cemetery under the auspices of the American Legion, the most dramatic moment came when two uniformed Legion members carefully folded the beautiful American flag covering the casket and placed it in the hands of the bereaved father, Peter Dellinger.
