PRIEST RIVER — After a year away due to the pandemic, the annual Run for the Berries Fun Run returned on Saturday to kick-off a day full of Timber Day festivities.

The event didn't miss a beat as 135 participants ranging from 3-to-84-years-old converged on Priest River Park to compete in the three races — a mile, 5K and 10K.

Dan Holl, 30, took first in the 10K with a 42:01.2 and 15-year-old Landon Baker won the 5K with a 20:08.9.

James Little earned second overall in the 5K. Dylan Lord was third, Ethan Korff fourth and Brayden Lamanna sixth. Priest River cross county head coach Lance Clark secured fifth in the race.

Nikki Knaak was the first woman to cross the finish line in the 5K.

In the 10K, Paige Barnett placed third overall and was the fastest female. Cindy Cohen, 53, was first in her age group and grabbed sixth overall.

The kids had plenty of fun running the mile. Gwendalyn Little, 11, placed first, Finley Taylor, 8, was second and Cole McKenna, 12, took third.

Proceeds from the fun run benefited the Priest River cross country team. A handful of current and former Spartan athletes participated in the event.

The top three finishers in each age group received an award.
