| August 4, 2021 9:38 AM

Village People is stepping in after REO Speedwagon was forced to cancel its Festival at Sandpoint show on Saturday after positive COVID-19 tests were confirmed.

The show will take place on Saturday, Aug. 7.

“Unfortunately, while we have been practicing CDC and locally recommended COVID-19 protocols on tour, members of the REO touring family still tested positive recently,” REO Speedwagon representatives said in a statement. "Fortunately, everyone was vaccinated, and all are feeling fine despite the positive tests.”

However, for the safety of the everyone, from band members to fans, the positive tests mean the canceling of the Sandpoint show.

“Once those affected observe the recommended quarantine and test negative, REO will be back on the road again - 100% healthy & 110% ready to rock,” REO representatives said. “Stay safe & get vaccinated everyone!”

Unfortunately, REO Speedwagon was unable to reschedule to 2022, Festival at Sandpoint officials said.

American disco legends, Village People will perform on The Festival at Sandpoint's stage for the Saturday concert. Known for their on-stage costumes, groovy music, and outstanding performances, Village People will have Sandpoint dancing to 'Y.M.C.A.' until '5' O'clock In the Morning'!

Tickets are available at $69.95 at festivalatsandpoint.com for Village People. REO Speedwagon individually purchased tickets can be used to attend Village People, or any other concert of The Festival at Sandpoint’s 2021 concert series, including Gladys Knight on August 5, Young the Giant on August 6, the family matinee on August 8, and the Grand Finale on August 8.

Season Pass, Patron, and Sponsor REO Speedwagon tickets are only valid for the Village People show on Saturday, August 7, and do not qualify for refunds.

For individual REO Speedwagon ticket purchasers who do not wish to attend Village People or the other performances, full refunds will automatically be issued starting Wednesday, August 11. Refunds will be issued to every individual REO Speedwagon ticket purchaser if their ticket is not used at any of the remaining Festival at Sandpoint performances and was purchased through the Festival at Sandpoint.

Donating REO Speedwagon tickets back to the non-profit organization will also be accepted and greatly appreciated, Festival officials said. Please submit donations via the Festival at Sandpoint website.

The Festival’s venue will be configured as a dance concert for Young the Giant and Village People shows to allow for an increased dancing/standing area in front of the stage for the overall safety of our fans, volunteers, and staff.

There will still be adequate sections for blankets, low chairs, tall chairs, and reserved patron and sponsor seating, as well as the grandstands.
