Gale Henry Barfuss, 85

With great sadness we announce the loss of our beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and uncle. Gale Henry Barfuss, 85, passed away on Sunday, August 8, 2021, surrounded by his family.

Gale Henry Barfuss was born in Sandpoint, Idaho, in 1936 and lived in the Sandpoint area all of his life. He married Dorothy Lee Oxley in 1958 in Sandpoint. They raised two daughters, Kim and Penny, and additionally cared for many foster children.

Gale worked for the Spokane International Railroad/Union Pacific Railroad for 43 years serving as a bridge foreman.

Gale was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Lee Oxley Barfuss; and his parents, August H. and Myrtle E. (Grindeland) Barfuss.

Gale is survived by his daughters, Kim Barfuss and Penny (Frank) Tenuto; a brother, Philip Barfuss; his grandchildren, Stephen Tenuto and Alissa (Greg) Korsak; his great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made to the Friends of the Library in memory of Gale Barfuss.

The memorial service will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Friday, August 13, 2021, at Coffelt’s Funeral Chapel, 109 N. Division, Sandpoint. Dale Coffelt will be officiating. Inurnment will be in Pinecrest Memorial Park.
