James Frank Macha, 84

James Frank Macha, 84, passed away on Wednesday, July 21, 2021, in Kootenai, Idaho. A celebration on his life will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, August 23, 2021, at the Sandpoint City Beach.

Jim was born on February 13, 1937, in Inglewood, California, to James and Bernice Macha. He gave up a baseball scholarship to Pepperdine University to serve his country in the United States Marine Corps. After his service, he played baseball for the Boston Farm Club.

He then married Sheryl Lee in 1973 in Westminster, California. He worked as a maintenance supervisor for Technicolor and for Yosemite National Park.

Jim later married Syndi Flynn on June 18, 1994, in Yosemite. They made their home in North Idaho. Jim spent 17 years as a city councilman in Kootenai.

Jim was an avid sports fan. He enjoyed baseball, softball, bowling and golf.

He is survived by his wife, Sydni Macha of Kootenai; son James F. Macha of Boulder City, Nevada; daughter Rori Rosenthal of Wellston, Oklahoma; granddaughter Holly Rosenthal of Mansfield, Texas; and great-granddaughter Athena Cornelius Mansfield.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Janet Snow and Joanne Rook.
