Thomas William Rosenberg

| August 12, 2021 1:00 AM

Thomas William Rosenberg was born on February 24, 1947, to William Walter Rosenberg and Myrle Elaine Rosenberg in Fairmount, Minnesota. He had a younger sister, Elaine who passed away last year. In his youth, Tom liked camping, fishing, hiking, and many other outdoor activities — ones he’d continue to enjoy for the rest of his life.

At the age of 18, he enlisted in the Navy for the Vietnam War to serve his country. Afterward, he enjoyed a long career as an active forest firefighter before deciding to become a dispatcher for their helicopters. Tom would continue to do this, even after he retired, during the fire season of each year.

He was married to Karen Jill Rosenberg for 23 years and they were together until his death. They had a son, William Eric Rosenberg, aged 23, in October of 1997. Though William was Tom’s only biological child, many whom he helped raise would also call him their dad, including (though not limited to) Ashley and Trey Deveney, children from Karen’s first marriage.

Tom was an honest man, true to his word, and to each promise. He always took care of the ones he loved and was an avid reader, a trait he would imprint onto his son.

Thomas passed away on August 2, 2021, after some years of failing health. Even in the face of death, his last words spoke of his character: “You take care of yourself.”

Family and friends are invited to sign Tom’s online guest book at www.coffeltfuneral.com.
