Why let truth get in the way?
I have struggled with whether I should respond or not to Catherine Fahrig’s, Dave Bannister’s and Steve Hatcher’s responses to my June 17 letter to the Bee ("The 2nd Amendment is a racist document"). I felt my response would only encourage their ignorance.
I recommend they go to democracynow.org/2021/6/3/carol_anderson_second_amendment to see how wrong they were in their criticism.
It has been my experience that such people never let the truth get in their way.
My advice is to stop being a member of a “choir.” Don’t go only to news that tells you what you want to hear.
In light of that we now have in the Aug. 3 issue of the Bee, Fahrig and Melinda Rossman engaging in anti-CRT rants without offering any examples of what they believe CRT gets wrong. Why offer evidence when you don’t have any, right?
Those against the teaching of critical race theory are whites who don’t want to own what whites have done to people of color the world over for centuries.
Fahrig’s rant went on about the victimhood of the poor white people. Somehow in her mind the white slave owners and the whites who lynched hundreds of blacks and who massacred hundreds more are the real victims. That’s an interesting fantasy she lives in.
It’s obvious Rossman has decided to join Fahrig, Bannister and Hatcher in their avoidance of educating themselves by taking a tighter hold of their own ignorance.
Yes, indeed, why let the truth to get in the way?
