Philip Richard 'Phil' Brashear

| August 13, 2021 1:00 AM

Philip Richard "Phil" Brashear passed away on July 26, 2021, in Coos Bay, Oregon.

He was born in Spokane, Washington, on May 25, 1942, to Joseph and Phyllis Brashear. He spent his early years in Clark Fork, Idaho, but traveled with his parents while his father was stationed with the Army in Renton, Washington, Louisville, Kentucky, and Adak, Alaska.

Phil entered school in Clark Fork, graduating in 1960. He then attended college in Trinidad, Colorado, and Caldwell, Idaho.

He worked for the U.S. Forest Service in Idaho, Washington, and Oregon. After leaving the Forest Service, Phil practiced his talents for art and design while working for several home furnishing businesses.

It was during the time that he lived and worked in Roseburg, Oregon, that Phil met Susan who became his wife on September 21, 1980.

If you knew Phil, you knew that his favorite pastime was fishing, especially fly fishing. He tied flies for his own use, sold some, and gave some away as gifts.

Other hobbies included hunting, mushrooming, wood carving, and photography, and he enjoyed looking for agates and fossils along the Pacific Ocean coast. He found peace and enjoyment in anything that involved being with nature.

Phil is survived by his wife Susan of Coos Bay; sister Diane Copley of Sandpoint; brother Bruce of Eureka, California; brother Tim (wife Gail) of Clark Fork; and cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

No services will be held as per Phil's request.
