OLD FARMIN TORCHED THURSDAY
Spectators last week admired the way Old Farmin held up against blows of the wreckers. There were remarks that it would have lasted a long time yet. At 4:30 a.m. Thursday, the hour scheduled to torch the old school, there were few spectators. The word had been kept pretty quiet, so no crowd stood around. At 4:40 a.m. the first diesel torch was hurled into the piled debris inside the building’s northern entrance. Moments later a second torch was tossed into the northwest room, and a third into the northeast room. By 8 a.m. there was little left to burn at Old Farmin.

ATTRACTIVE HEALTH EXHIBIT
On bargain day, Mrs. Frances Wann, county health nurse, exhibited excellent health posters at Red Cross headquarters, covering the wall floor to ceiling. They called attention to the menace of flies, typhoid fever and lack of proper infant care and child welfare, showed how dangers are created and carried about and told of proper methods to combat health hazards. She had a great many visitors.

CITY BREVITIES
John Larson of Hope attended Chautauqua here last night and visited with his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Marks.
The Pend d’Oreille creamery this week shipped 1250 pounds of butter to Glacier National park.
The second monthly bargain day Wednesday went even better than the first, say the merchants, bringing in more bargain trade and increasing the sales volume in excess of a month ago.
