Clark Fork football thrashes Troy in season opener
TROY, Mont. — The Clark Fork football team took care of business in their season opener on Friday, cruising to a 56-6 win at Troy.
The Wampus Cats built a 28-0 first-quarter advantage and never looked back.
"We were just executing really well and were very disciplined," head coach Brian Arthun said. "It was a great team effort."
Senior Sam Barnett had a 20-yard touchdown run and reeled in a 30-yard touchdown reception from quarterback Ethan Howard, who had a pair of scores on the ground.
Running back Carter Sanroman punched the ball into the end zone twice and converted a 35-yard field goal, and Antonio Mayorga returned a fumble for a touchdown and forced a safety.
Cole Sanroman had a 2-yard touchdown run and Cole Reuter secured an interception and a fumble.
Arthun said the Wampus Cats were missing a pair of key pieces on the line, but Wyatt Mintken and Cole Mintken stepped up and left their mark on Friday's contest.
Clark Fork (1-0) travels to Wallace at 6 p.m. Friday.
