Bulldogs show promise in season-opening loss to West Valley
SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. — Friday was the start of a new era for Sandpoint boys basketball.
In their first game under new head coach Brian Childs, the Bulldogs fell to West Valley 57-50 in the Border Clash.
"I thought we played really hard," Childs said. "We had a stretch for about the last three quarters of the game where we played really well."
An 8-point first quarter came back to bite the Bulldogs.
"We dug ourselves a hole to start the game ... but then we kind of crept our way back into it," Childs said. "I thought we just started to run out of gas a little bit in the fourth quarter."
Rusty Lee led the team with 13 points, Jacob Eldridge and Ethan Butler each scored 10 and Parker Childs had 9 on a trio of 3-pointers. Randy Lane added 5 points.
Sandpoint (0-1) plays East Valley at 4:15 p.m. Saturday to wrap up the Border Clash.
