The Word of God is alive

“Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.” (Psalm 119:105)

Psalm 119 is the longest chapter in the Bible with 176 verses and the whole chapter is dedicated to the beauty of God's word.

Verse 105 pretty much sums up what we read throughout Psalm 119: God's word is our ultimate authority and if we understand God's word, we understand the central theme of God’s word and that is the atoning work of Jesus Christ. I think sometimes we get lost in trying to use the Bible as an instruction manual, or using the Bible to feel better about our life on earth. I believe the word of God should be exalted and worshipped through.

We have to do more than just read the word; we have to embody the word and the Holy Spirit helps us with that. For example, in Hebrews 4:12 the writer talks about how the “Word” of God is living and active. The “Word” that is spoken here in Hebrews 4:12 is talking about Jesus, because the whole passage in Hebrews is all about the glory of Christ and His role as mediator between God and humanity. In addition, the “Word” spoken in Hebrews 4:12 is the same “Word” spoken in John 1:1 where John declares, “that the Word was with God and the Word was God."

This means the “Word” is Jesus and that, my friends is how we embody the word of God and live a transformed life.
