Do you walk in to your fitness facility without a game plan? Figure you'll show up and just "wing it?" A classic case of same old routine, different day?

I am here to tell you – you must have a plan if you want to see results. You would not go grocery shopping without a grocery list … same thing. Get serious and get results.

We all have people in our life, currently and/or in the past that sing the same old song – day in day out, month in month out, year in year out … very rhythmic, but also very boring. Instead, spend time and focus on you. New routine equals new results.

I’m not sure the reason why, but, many people adjust their fitness

and lifestyle around a calendar —i.e. a New Year’s resolution. After the first of the year, gym memberships increase, people are a little more aware of the nutrition in their food consumption and for some reason, the numbers on the scale become a little clearer.

Now is your time. As you flip over the calendar to a new year – new you … put some thought in to your plan of action. Results really do matter. They matter to your physician, your children, your spouse, but most importantly, they will matter to you.

My goal is for all of my clients to be in the best shape of their life. Regardless of age, how many children they have, what they do for a living, etc. You can choose to be fit. In my work with my clients, I have personally witnessed the remarkable transformations right before my eyes. It is an amazing experience and every day I feel blessed to be a part of something so positive.

So, while you are shopping, wrapping, sliding around on the snowy roads and trimming the tree. I will be here after the holidays to “trim” you. Regardless of the calendar, I will be here.

Here’s a little hint for you busy folks out there — when your kids, or spouse or dog leave their things scattered all over the floor, don’t get angry. Instead, think of this as a chance to get a little exercise in and perform a squat while you are picking it up off the floor, then do a few lunges on your way to the laundry room. Your legs will get a workout and your house will get picked up at the same time.

When your children (or spouse or dog) roll their eyes and giggle about what you are doing — show them. Then challenge them to see who can do the most squats or do the most laps around the house doing lunges.

Perhaps next time, they will think twice about leaving their laundry on the floor in the first place. From mom to mom, this works.

Have a merry fitness and happy new rear.
