PONDERAY — Lake Pend Oreille School District Clerk Kelly Fisher has been named the Idaho School Board Association’s School Board Clerk of the Year.

In nominating Fisher for the award, LPOSD Superintendent Tom Albertson said her knowledge, professionalism and accuracy are just a few of the attributes for his nomination

The highly functioning relationship between the Lake Pend Oreille School Board and himself is mostly due to Fisher’s ability to be efficient, accurate, and professional in all board/superintendent communication, Albertson wrote in the nomination.

Fisher is second to none when it comes to her knowledge of board policy and procedure, helping with legal references, and guiding the school board in conducting efficient meetings, Albertson said.

“Kelly is a great communicator to patrons, always conducting herself in a professional and pleasant manner, even in difficult circumstances,” said Albertson.

“Kelly is an integral part of the Lake Pend Oreille School District team and is the “glue” that keeps things running smoothly,” said the superintendent. “She juggles her administrative duties, board clerk duties, and her family life with great balance. I cannot express enough the appreciation I have for Kelly.”

At the Nov. 9, board meeting Misty Swanson of the ISBA announced Fisher’s accomplishment.

Swanson said that community members, board members and staff had great things to say about Fisher.

“Kelly exemplifies everything an ideal clerk should be. She has been amazing, supportive and positive throughout all sorts of unusual and difficult situations. She is well educated about all school board issues and topics,” said Swanson.

Swanson added that Fisher manages to keep the board on task and within the boundaries of what a school board is required to do and what they should not be doing. Fisher is also an excellent speaker and has volunteered at the ISBA conventions since the first year of her clerkship.

“She continues to impress us with her willingness to step up to any task. She is well liked and trusted by all of the administrative staff and at the district office and has the respect of all board members and superintendent,” said Swanson quoting board members. “We all admire her both professionally and in her personal life as a mother and community member.”

At the same board meeting a parent took a portion of her public comment time to congratulate Fisher as well.

“Your [hard] work does not go unnoticed. The minutes you put out are always so detailed and thorough,” said the parent.

The parent went on to say that after comparing Fisher’s detailed meeting minutes to other school districts that Fisher goes above and beyond at her work.
