We must work to prevent government overreach

| December 28, 2021 1:00 AM

ARPA money comes with stipulations such as but not limited to the following: “Recipient also agrees to comply with all other applicable federal statutes, regulations, and executive orders, and Recipient shall provide for such compliance by other parties in any agreements it enters into with other parties relating to this award.” In addition to the above, the contract includes a list of applicable federal acts but is intentionally vague on what “executive orders” means but could include vaccine mandates, contract tracing and  future directives from the federal government

Grassroots activists have requested that Bonner County reject ARPA funds. Many counties across the country have declined to open their county doors to federal overreach through accepting and spending ARPA money.

As a community, we need to come together to understand what is happening in our country, in our state and in our county. We need to make our collective voices heard to prevent such government overreach.

We the people have more control of our local and federal government than we exercise. Now, is the time that we rise up and demand the freedom that so many have fought for and given their lives for. Tell your elected officials to say no to ARPA funds and the like. No, our country, our county, our neighbors are not for sale.

As President Thomas Jefferson once said “ What country can preserve its liberties if its rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance …?”
