LOT's failure was due to terms, cost

| December 30, 2021 1:00 AM

Regarding his letter (Daily Bee, Dec. 14, 2021), Gil Beyer is correct, a working democracy needs voter participation to survive. Sadly America does not have a great track record of participation.

That being said, I suspect Gil's frustrations are not with turnout but with the results. Just because the local option tax was not passed, does not mean people do not want sidewalks, it means they don't like the terms or the cost.

How does Gil know Jalon Peters is not competent, Jalon has not even taken office yet. I'II bet Gil is "blue" in the face over the past election results. For the record, I voted against the LOT because of the terms not because I don't like sidewalks or parks.
