Three Spartans place at North Idaho Rumble

Editor's note: This story has been updated to reflect that Wednesday's home dual against Coeur d'Alene has been canceled and will not rescheduled.

COEUR d'ALENE — Keith Poirier, Aidan Troumbley and Hayden Sorbel all placed for the Spartans at the North Idaho Rumble this past weekend at Coeur d'Alene High.

Poirier and Troumbley battled each other in the third-place match at 126 pounds. Poirier emerged victorious, defeating Troumbley 13-7 and handing him a fourth-place finish.

Poirier went 4-1 in bouts at the North Idaho Rumble and earned a quarterfinal victory over teammate Dylan Lord by technical fall. Lord had a 1-2 record at the tourney.

Troumbley went 3-2 at the event. All three of his wins were by pin and he was pinned in the semifinals by Caldwell's Hunter Bidelman.

Hayden Sorbel captured fifth place at 106 pounds. He secured a 3-2 record and edged out Coeur d'Alene's Boston Spear 10-9 for fifth.

Collin Magers (120), Charles Bennett (160) and Matyus McLain (182) all finished 1-2 at the tournament. Caeden McLaimtaig (120), Shayd Wong-Yuen (132), Egil Williams (132), Devin Nessel (138), Keegan Poirier (152), Hunter Brokew (152) and Bradley Bennett (170) went 0-2.

The Priest River wrestling team will head to the Bonners Ferry Tournament this weekend before hosting rival Timberlake at 6 p.m. next Tuesday. Today's home dual with Coeur d'Alene was canceled last minute and will not be rescheduled.
