Clark Fork ends losing streak, Garcia scores 23
KELLOGG — It's finally over.
After going a month without a win, Clark Fork boys basketball picked up its second victory of the season on Friday night to end a seven-game losing streak.
The Wampus Cats beat the Kellogg JV team 47-38.
Head coach Heath Beason said he is proud of his team for sticking with it and pulling out a win.
"I'm excited for the kids and being able to see the smiles on their faces because they've worked so hard and they finally got a reward," he said.
The Wampus Cats trailed 14-8 after the first quarter, but in the second they outscored Kellogg 22-7 and never looked back after that.
Senior Cameron Garcia scored 15 in that second quarter and finished the night with 23 points and seven steals.
"We started out very aggressive and we kept it going the whole game," Beason said.
Junior Carter Sanroman poured in nine points, sophomore Nathan Shelton tallied seven and Ethan Howard added five.
Eleven players logged minutes for Clark Fork on Friday and Beason said his younger players gave the team a boost.
"Our freshmen and sophomores stepped in and did a very good job picking up our full-court press," he said.
The Wampus Cats (2-11, 0-1 NSL) head to Mullan at 7 p.m. Tuesday for a pivotal game in North Star League play. Clark Fork suffered a heartbreaking loss to the Tigers on Jan. 5.
