Spartans see season come to an end with loss to Kellogg
KELLOGG — Priest River girls basketball was unable to keep its season alive on Tuesday night.
The Spartans, the fourth seed, fell to No. 2 Kellogg 57-21 in a 3A District 1 loser-out game. A box score from this game was not available at press time.
Priest River earned a spot in the loser-out game by falling at No. 1 Timberlake, the defending 3A state champions, 59-20 on Monday.
It was the Tigers third win over the Spartans this season.
In that game, Priest River fell behind 30-10 at the half and could never recover. The Spartans saw seniors Hannah Palfrey and Makia Fitzmorris return to the lineup and the duo combined for 10 points. Sophomore Lilly Freitas added four points.
The Spartans finish the season with a 4-17 record. The team went winless in Intermountain League play, but the future is bright for Priest River.
The Spartans will lose Palfrey, Fitzmorris and Annika Rantala, but Freitas, Samantha Pound, Marley Burgess-Duquette, Cheyenne Thompson, Addison Kingery, Helena White, Allyson Barton and Abbey Shockey will all be back next winter.
