THAW BRINGS TROUBLE

As a result of three days of real spring thaw, much difficulty is being encountered in various parts of the city, a great number of basements being flooded by seepage or back water from sewers. The sewer system is congested due to an unusual flow of surface water and there is some danger threatened at the septic tank by the abnormal pressure developed. The past week’s weather has run the scale of temperature and humidity. Sunday was cold with good skating. Monday it snowed. Then it began to grow mild and the past three days have been marked by intermittent rainfall with rising temperatures.
