Forrest M. Bird Charter School open enrollment underway
Forrest M. Bird Charter School’s open enrollment is ongoing through March 25. The school is welcoming any new sixth-12th grade level student applications for the 2021-’22 school year.
As an Idaho Charter School, FBCS is required to have a student capacity limit. Open enrollment provides families an opportunity to apply early to increase the possibility of securing placement at FBCS for the next school year. If more applicants apply than available seats in a given grade, then every student who has applied is entered into a lottery. The lottery will be held March 26 at 3:30 p.m. for the applicants.
By striving to create innovative learning opportunities by fostering community, individuality, and imagination, FBCS creates a learning environment based around the Project Based philosophy with a mastery learning focus. With no more than 22 students in each classroom, students experience more individual help from teachers while building respectful and intellectual relationships with their peers and staff.
"I believe our role as educators is to mentor students by focusing on the whole student to help them grow into civil, capable, committed and loving human beings,” Vicki Vesecky, FBCS social and emotional counselor, said. “Through empathy, compassion, and relatability, I aim to work with families to create a positive support system and make an impact on each individual student by helping them recognize their abilities, strengths, and connection to others."
