Restrictions on citizen initiatives need to be opposed

We must oppose Idaho Senator Steve Vick's bill to eliminate citizen initiative, one of our rights enshrined in the Idaho Constitution. Democracy cannot flourish without citizen participation, and any attempt to eliminate a way to participate in our democracy is flawed. Democracy does not belong to politicians, but to the people of our state. Sen. Vick claims that rural citizens are not represented in a citizens' initiative, but the recent passage of Medicaid Expansion got the majority of voters in every rural county. Please contact your own representatives and urge them not to take away this cherished right of the citizens.
