Flows fluctuate at Albeni Falls Dam

OLDTOWN — Flows temporary fluctuated at Albeni Falls Dam on Friday to break up ice that formed in the facility's forebay, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers said.

Flows were set to remain in the approximate range of 14,000-19,000 cubic feet per second for several hours. Flows were expected to return to 19,000 cfs following the ice-breaking operation.

Operations at the Pend Oreille River dam are being conducted to maintain a 2,051.25-2,052.25-foot range on Lake Pend Oreille. The corps said the target range is shifted a quarter of a foot higher than the typical February range due to the storage of water in January to accommodate the Bonneville Power Administration's flexible winter power operations.

The corps said the water is continuing to be stored until BPA requests a lease for power generation.
