SANDPOINT — The level of Lake Pend Oreille will be kept a quarter of a foot higher than its normal range this month in order to store water for the Bonneville Power Administration's flexible winter power operations.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers said the water will be stored for the time being and can be released at a future date at the request of BPA for power generation.

The lake's elevation was at 2,051.72 feet as measured at the gauge in Hope. The outflow at Albeni Falls Dam was at 17,000 cubic feet per second.
