Inside Edge: Waters, Longanecker earn U16 top honors in Libby
World Cup Update — Speed! Breezy Johnson notched her fourth consecutive podium finish with a downhill bronze medal in Crans-Montana, Switzerland, this week. In her first full World Cup season, Bella Wright posted her best finish in 20th. Johnson also finished fifth in the second downhill, and Wright captured 25th. Wright wrapped up a strong week as the top U.S. finisher in super-G, taking 28th.
Meanwhile, the men competed at Kitzbuehel on the fabled Hahnenkamm track. Travis Ganong was the top U.S. finisher in the first downhill, placing 11th. He was followed by Jared Goldberg in 19th and Bryce Bennett in 24th. Unfortunately, Ryan Cochran-Siegle, who had been fastest in training and is the best U.S. speed racer this year, fell and broke his neck. His status for the World Championships on Feb. 9 is doubtful.
Ganong finished 12th in the second downhill of the weekend, followed by Goldberg in 24th. Ganong was 27th in super-G and Goldberg was 30th.
