Biddadat, Brown announced as Festival openers

| July 9, 2021 9:00 AM

The Festival at Sandpoint's lineup is complete.

The final group — Biddadat — will open for indie-pop band, Young the Giant on Friday, Aug. 6.

Festival officials said Biddadat’s feel-good rhythm will have fans up and dancing for Young the Giant’s electrifying performance.

Biddadat features Pacific Northwest locals, hailing from Sandpoint to Seattle. Cameron Brownell on guitars and electronic production, and Kyle Miller on bass, were raised in Sandpoint, before moving to Seattle where they pursued an education in music production. The duo first started playing music together in Sandpoint around 2009. However, it was in the Emerald City where they reconnected, established the band’s name, and were joined by Seattle-local and drummer, Remy Morrit.

Biddadat’s unique sound blends alternative rock riffs with funky electronic notes for a fresh sound.

However, this will not be Biddadat’s first time on the Festival stage. In 2017, the band opened for the B-52s.

Also announced as an opener is Lucas Brookbank Brown, who will kick off the fun for REO Speedwagon on Saturday, Aug. 7.

Spokane native Lucas Brookbank Brown is a musical jack of all trades as a singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and producer. Brown’s contemporary mix of folk, rock, and pop has been compared to the Lumineers, Tallest Man on Earth, and Jason Isbell.

Pairing witty lyrics with twangy guitars and dynamic rock sound, Brown recently released his first solo EP, “Everything Means Something Out Here.”

Brown is also a fixture in the music culture of Spokane as the guitarist for the long-running funk band Left Over Soul, frontman for blues-rock act BREADBOX, and member of the hip-hop fusion collective Kung Fu Vinyl.

With the help of his friend, Brian McClatchey, Brown has founded his own record label, Basaltic Records. He hosts regular open mic and jam nights at the Red Room Lounge.

Lucas Brookbank Brown performed at The Festival at Sandpoint’s final concert of their brand new Live from 525 concert series.

A two-week summer music series, the Festival at Sandpoint will be held July 29 to Aug. 8.
