Donald Edward Andwood, 78, passed away on July 2, 2021, in Sandpoint, Idaho, surrounded by his family.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Friday, July 9, 2021, in St. Joseph’s Catholic Church with burial in Pinecrest Memorial Park.
Don was born November 16, 1942, in Jamaica, Queens, New York, the second of three children born to Agnes and Edward Andwood. He grew up in Queens and attended St. John's University, where he earned a BA in English, MS in Library Science, MA in English and a Ed.D in Education.
He married Lillian Didwell in 1983. After being diagnosed with Alzheimer's in 2016, he and Lillian planned to live closer to their grandchildren, and in 2019 moved from their home of over 30 years on Long Island to Idaho.
Don is survived by his wife, Lillian; three children, Peter Andwood, Kenneth Andwood, and Mary Claire Shoff; and two sisters, Barbara Mills and Elizabeth Stosuy. Also surviving are his seven grandchildren, five of whom live in Sandpoint.
