Roland Wayne Derr, 94
Roland Wayne Derr, 94, of Clark Fork, Idaho, passed in peace on June 7, 2021.
Roland was born in Sandpoint, Idaho, to William and Dorothy (Huff) Derr. He grew up in Clark Fork and lived there his entire life. He graduated from Clark Fork High School in 1946 and enlisted in the U.S. Army shortly after, serving his country during World War II. In 1952, he married Patricia Derr and they celebrated 68 years of marriage in December 2020.
Roland is survived by his son, Steve (Sally) Derr; daughter-in-law, Lisa Derr; granddaughters Staci (Ryan) Bailey and Jennifer (Chris) Derr-Payne; grandsons Dustin (Martha) Fagan and Robert Fagan; and great-grandchildren Owen, Bella, Noah, and Gracie.
Roland is preceded in death by his parents William and Dorothy (Huff) Derr, his wife Patricia Derr, his son Darrell Derr, and his siblings Dorothy (Dolly) Derr LaMarche and William (Billy) Derr.
Roland worked in various jobs over his lifetime including logging, mining, road building and road construction, and running the family general contracting business, William W. Derr and Sons, Inc., for many years. Roland and Patricia purchased the family business from his parents, and later in life passed it on to their son, Darrell, to take over. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, traveling, dancing, boating, working on his boat, going for drives, dancing, and having fun. He was often the life of the party and loved being a jokester.
A combined celebration of life potluck for Roland and Patricia Derr will be held July 17, 2021, from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Clark Fork Senior Center. The family requests in lieu of flowers for the family at this time, a donation to the Clark Fork Food Bank be made if desired.
