Huycks celebrating 55th wedding anniversary

Bob and Shelby Huyck are celebrating their 55th anniversary today, July 16. The couple were wed in Buffalo, New York, on July 16, 1966.

After many years working and raising their two boys, Robert and Jonathan, in Maryland, they visited Sandpoint, Idaho, to visit her mother and sister, and fell in love with the place.

In 1993, they decided to trade the hustle and bustle of suburban Washington, D.C., for the beauty, serenity, and charm of "small-town" Sandpoint.

Bob began work at the Bonner County Daily Bee, spent several years in the dental industry as a sales rep for Unicep, and retired as a Realtor in 2009.

Shelby is best known by most people as the always-friendly sales lady and very talented decorator, for many years, at the Bonner General Health gift shop.

"Other than getting married, moving to Sandpoint was the best thing we have ever done," the couple said.
