Discovery Center of Idaho hosts virtual dinosaur class for grades 1-5

The Discovery Center of Idaho is hosting a free online science class open to all ages and recommended for grades 1-5 where students can learn about Tinker the T-Rex today (Tuesday) from 4-4:45 p.m.
Tinker, one of the center’s permanent collection, is the most complete fossilized skeleton of a juvenile T-Rex ever found, said instructor Emily Mahon.
The class will be an introduction on dinosaurs, fossils, what can be learned from them and other science lessons like how a T-Rex would use its tail as a counterbalance.
It will include 35-40 minutes of instruction, with time left over for questions and answers. Students will also get a chance to take a “selfie” with Tinker.
The class, which is a partnership with varsitytutors.com, is the third in its installment. Previously, classes learned about King Tut and the Titanic.

Tinker the T-Rex will also be on display the next several months for those visiting Boise in person, Mahon said.
