Work has begun on an addition to add 25 per cent more space to the local Anthony store, according to Ben Longbottom, who has managed the store for 4½ years. BUNGALOW-PACK RIVER VALLEY NEWS

Fire broke out on section 18, township 50 R1E Thursday. Due to the forest’s dry conditions, the blaze spread rapidly and by the time fire fighters arrived, considerable acreage was a seething mass of flames. Under our able fire warden, a fire break circle was made which effectively checked the conflagration and what promised to be one of this area’s biggest fires was under control. The culmination of the heat wave seemed to follow Thursday’s fire, with stifling, oppressive heat on Friday. The dust made traveling very unpleasant.
