Moose shot, killed after charging camper

| June 24, 2021 3:53 PM

Idaho Department of Fish & Game officials say that an aggressive bull moose was shot and killed Tuesday by a camper after it charged the individual at the Harrison Lake backcountry camping area north of Sandpoint.

The Forest Service has closed the Harrison Lake trailhead to hikers in order to prevent possible conflicts between hikers and any bears that may feed on the carcass.

For more information about the trail opening back up to hikers please contact the Sandpoint Ranger District office at 208-263-5111.

This is a breaking story and will be updated.
