Hattie Larson claims District 1 All-Star game MVP

MULLAN — Sandpoint senior Hattie Larson scored 16 points for the West to claim the MVP of the 34th annual District 1 All-Star girls basketball game on Friday night at Mullan Pavilion.

Teammate Kaylee Banks also pitched in 14 points for the West, but they fell to the East 68-44.

Timberlake senior Blayre Jeffs scored a team-high 13 points for the East. Dylan Lovett of Post Falls scored nine points, Jaelyn Brainard-Adams of Coeur d’Alene and Maya Blake of Post Falls scored eight each for the East, which outscored the West 16-6 in the second quarter to take a 29-23 halftime lead.

At halftime, Lovett won the 3-point contest, hitting four shots in a tiebreaker with Tori Younker of Coeur d’Alene and Bella Phillips of Sandpoint, who made three and two respectively.

Phillips scored two points for the West, along with Priest River's Makia Fitzmorris. Priest River's Hannah Palfrey also played in the game.

The boys District 1 All-Star game will be played tonight at 6 in Mullan.
