David Wayne Butterfield, 79, was welcomed to the loving arms of Jesus on March 13, 2021 after a long illness.

David was born to Delwin and Mary Ruth Butterfield on May 6, 1941, in Rio Tinto, Nev. His parents moved to Idaho to be near family in Laclede when he was very young. His mother died when he was 5, and he was raised by his stepmother Clara Butterfield.

After graduating high school, David proudly served the United States Navy, including two years as flight deck crew on the aircraft carrier USS Intrepid, before being transferred to the Navy Reserves where he was honorably discharged in 1965.

David was a long-time resident of Sandpoint, Idaho where he was an electrical contractor. He owned and operated his own business there, and wired many residences and commercial buildings in the area. He was known and loved for his generosity, sense of humor, and love for church and family.

David is survived by his beloved wife, Micki Butterfield; sister Cathy Ross; two children and five stepchildren; and 20 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, two nephews and a niece.

A celebration of life for David will be held at 11 a.m. on April 10, 2021 at the Cocolalla Cowboy Church, 4281 Cocolalla Loop Road, Cocolalla ID, 83813.
