Depot burns, Merc robbed

The Great Northern depot at Laclede burned down Tuesday night.

Saturday night entrance was forced through the rear door of the Kaniksu Merc. And about $300 worth of merchandise was secured in three suitcases. A small amount of change was also taken and a note was left reading “plese leve moer muny in til.” The loot was hidden at the pole yard near the G.N. tracks.

A man going to the St. Elmo to go to bed saw the robber hiding two suitcases while the thief was after the third. He notified Marshal Binkley, who arrested the man shortly after. His partner was also arrested.
